A 10-year-old boy suffered severe burn injuries after a man allegedly set him on fire during a property dispute in Shikarpur.
Police said the incident occurred in Abdullah Colony within the jurisdiction of Lakhi Dar police station. The victim, identified as Sarfaraz Mahar, sustained serious injuries after the suspect allegedly poured petrol on him and set him ablaze.
Rescuers shifted Sarfaraz to Civil Hospital, where doctors provided immediate medical treatment. However, medical staff later referred the injured child to Sukkur for further care due to the severity of his burns.
Police Register Case After Attack
Sindh Inspector General of Police took notice of the incident and sought a report from the Deputy Inspector General of Police in Larkana. Meanwhile, police registered a case based on a complaint filed by the victim’s father, Ayaz Mahar.
Police also arrested the alleged prime suspect, identified as Javed Akhtar Balwani Baloch. Authorities have started investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack and the dispute between the two parties.
Family Alleges Property Sale Pressure
According to the complainant, the accused had allegedly been harassing the family to pressure them into selling their property at a lower price. The family linked the attack on Sarfaraz to the ongoing dispute.
Police are investigating the allegations and gathering evidence to determine the circumstances that led to the child’s burning. Authorities are also expected to record statements from the victim’s family as the investigation continues.
The incident has prompted concern over the safety of the family amid the property dispute. Further action will depend on the findings of the police investigation and the evidence collected in the case.
