KARACHI: In a horrific act of domestic violence, a man named Arthur was burned alive by his in-laws in Karachi’s Ittehad Town.
According to police investigators, the incident unfolded when Arthur was lured to his in-laws’ residence by his wife, Mishie, under the pretext of reconciling. Upon his arrival, the gate was locked behind him, and he was physically attacked.
Tragically, Arthur sustained fatal injuries. His ordeal did not end here, and his in-laws poured petrol on him and set him on fire. Before his death, he gave a video statement identifying his mother-in-law, Samina, two male relatives, and others as his attackers.
Neighbors, alerted by his screams, rushed to the scene and shifted him to Civil Hospital’s burns ward, where he received treatment for several days. Despite efforts by medical staff, Arthur succumbed to his injuries.
Police have arrested Arthur’s father-in-law and uncle-in-law, and continued to conduct raids to apprehend the remaining suspects. The recorded statement given by Arthur is expected to be a key piece of evidence in the investigation and prosecution.
The gruesome case has reignited public outcry over domestic violence in Karachi. Human rights activists are demanding swift justice and stronger legal protections for victims of family abuse.
Authorities have assured that the case will be pursued with full force and that all responsible parties will be brought to justice.
