SAN FRANCISCO — WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will allow users to schedule messages for automatic delivery in chats, according to a recent beta report. The tool, discovered by WABetaInfo in beta version 26.7.10.72 for iOS, signals the platform’s effort to match capabilities long available on rival messaging apps.
Although WhatsApp has not officially announced the feature, early findings suggest it will function in both individual and group conversations. As a result, users may soon gain greater flexibility in managing communication across personal and professional chats.
The feature, reportedly titled Scheduled Messages, will allow users to compose a message and select a specific date and time for it to be sent automatically. Once scheduled, the app will deliver the message without requiring any further action.
Moreover, scheduled messages will appear in a dedicated “Scheduled Messages” section within the chat information screen. From there, users will be able to review, manage, or delete pending messages before the selected delivery time.
Screenshots shared in the beta report show the feature working inside a group chat. However, developers have not indicated any restriction limiting it to groups. Therefore, it is likely the scheduling option will also support one-to-one conversations.
Despite the progress, WhatsApp has not yet released the feature to beta testers. The company continues to refine the tool internally, and no official timeline for a public rollout exists.
As with many features under development, WhatsApp could modify or even cancel the plan before launch. Nevertheless, the addition would mark a significant enhancement to the platform’s messaging flexibility if released.
