WhatsApp has introduced three new features to make group chats more organised and interactive: member tags, text stickers, and event reminders.
The first feature, Member Tags, allows users to assign themselves a role or identifier within a group. Tags are fully customisable for each group, enabling participants to display different roles depending on the groupโs purpose.
This feature helps members quickly identify responsibilities and keeps larger or busier groups organised. For instance, someone could tag themselves as โModerator,โ โEvent Planner,โ or โAdminโ to clarify their role at a glance.
The second update expands WhatsAppโs sticker functionality with Text Stickers. Users can now turn any word or phrase into a sticker directly via the Sticker Search feature.
These custom stickers can be added to personal sticker packs and reused without needing to send them first in a chat. This makes it easier to create personalised stickers on the fly, making group conversations more fun and expressive.
The third enhancement focuses on Event Reminders. Group admins and members can now set early reminders for shared events in a group chat, ensuring participants receive timely notifications ahead of scheduled activities.
This is particularly useful for coordinating meetings, celebrations, or deadlines within active groups, helping reduce missed events and improve overall organisation.
All three features are rolling out globally starting today, and WhatsApp aims to make group communication more structured, engaging, and efficient. The combination of custom roles, reusable text stickers, and timely event reminders strengthens the platformโs utility for both casual and professional group interactions, ensuring members can participate actively without confusion.
With these upgrades, WhatsApp continues to enhance the group chat experience, allowing users to communicate more effectively, plan events with ease, and personalise conversations like never before.
