Netflix’s hit supernatural series Wednesday is back in action, and fans of the delightfully morbid Wednesday Addams have plenty to look forward to. Season 2 has been split into two parts, with the first four episodes already streaming and Part 2 officially set to premiere on September 3. Titled the Summer of Woe, the season promises an even darker and more mysterious journey for the Nevermore Academy student, portrayed once again by Jenna Ortega.
According to co-showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the second season deepens Wednesday’s emotional and supernatural challenges. “This season, Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries,” they revealed in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum. While Wednesday may think she knows Nevermore inside out, nothing goes according to her calculated plans. “She returns thinking she’s in control, but finds herself completely off-guard,” said Millar.
Along with Ortega’s return, fans will see more of the Addams Family, including Morticia, Gomez, and Pugsley, who all have expanded roles this season. A slew of new characters also join the eerie ensemble—one of which has taken social media by storm.
Lady Gaga Joins the Cast as a Mysterious New Character
In a surprise reveal, Lady Gaga has joined the cast of Wednesday Season 2, portraying a new character named Rosaline Rotwood. Netflix shared a striking first-look image on social media, showing Gaga alongside the beloved disembodied hand “Thing,” perched on her shoulder. The post read: “A vision in venom. Here’s your first look at Lady Gaga as Rosaline Rotwood.”
Though Netflix hasn’t disclosed detailed information about Gaga’s role, speculation is rife that she will play a Nevermore Academy teacher with a supernatural twist. Fans have been buzzing with excitement, reacting enthusiastically across platforms. “MOTHER HAS ARRIVED,” exclaimed one fan on X (formerly Twitter), while another posted, “She looks so goodddd – QUEEN.” Many believe Gaga is eyeing another Emmy for her appearance, following her acclaimed performance in American Horror Story.
Adding to the excitement, Gaga has also contributed a brand-new song titled “The Dead Dance” for the new season, further cementing her dramatic entrance into Wednesday’s world.
More Surprises Ahead as Part 2 Nears Release
With Part 2 premiering September 3 and the MTV Video Music Awards just days later on September 7, where Gaga is also slated to perform, the pop superstar is taking center stage across multiple entertainment platforms this September. At the VMAs, she will join artists like Doja Cat, Mariah Carey, Post Malone, and Sabrina Carpenter.
As Nevermore Academy opens its doors once again, fans can expect more eerie twists, dark humor, chilling mysteries—and now, a touch of Gaga.
