Pakistan has been invited to join the Gaza โBoard of Peaceโ being established by United States President Donald Trump, the Foreign Office confirmed on Saturday. The development signals Pakistanโs potential involvement in a new international initiative aimed at addressing the ongoing humanitarian and political crisis in Gaza.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi stated that the invitation was formally extended to Pakistanโs Prime Minister by the US President. He emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to international efforts focused on peace and stability in the region.
According to Andrabi, Islamabad will continue to support initiatives that seek a just and lasting resolution of the Palestine issue in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions and international law.
The proposed Board of Peace is part of the second phase of President Trumpโs 20-point plan for peace in Gaza. The initiative comes in the aftermath of years of conflict and widespread destruction caused by Israelโs sustained military operations in the territory.
The board is intended to bring together influential political figures, policymakers, and international stakeholders to shape a framework for post-conflict governance, reconstruction, and long-term peace.
On Friday, President Trump announced several high-profile appointments to the panel. These include US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and senior US negotiators Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff. The inclusion of figures from diplomacy, global finance, and previous peace initiatives highlights Washingtonโs intention to give the board both political weight and economic influence.
A day later, leaders from Egypt, Turkey, Argentina, and Canada confirmed that they had also received invitations to participate. Their involvement reflects a broader international effort to include regional and global actors with varying diplomatic perspectives on the Gaza conflict.
Pakistanโs possible participation is seen as significant given its consistent support for Palestinian rights and its longstanding advocacy for a peaceful solution based on international consensus. Analysts believe Islamabadโs role could add diplomatic balance and reinforce calls for humanitarian relief, reconstruction, and a sustainable political settlement in Gaza.
