Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), asserted on Saturday that no terrorist will be able to survive when the people of Pakistan and the armed forces stand united.
Speaking during a special interactive session with students and teachers in Islamabad, the military spokesperson underscored the power of national unity in the face of both internal and external threats.
The remarks come in the aftermath of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos — a major military campaign launched by Pakistan in response to India’s unprovoked aggression. The operation, which included a series of targeted strikes against Indian military positions across various regions, marked a significant escalation in tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
According to official sources, Pakistan’s armed forces downed six Indian fighter jets — including three Rafales — and destroyed dozens of drones. The 87-hour-long conflict concluded with a ceasefire on May 10, brokered by the United States.
The conflict was triggered following a deadly attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which claimed the lives of 26 tourists. India was quick to accuse Pakistan of orchestrating the assault, although it failed to present any credible evidence.
In retaliation, Pakistan launched what it described as “precise and proportionate” military operations, asserting its right to self-defence under international law. The toll from the Indian strikes included 53 Pakistani casualties — 13 armed forces personnel and 40 civilians, according to ISPR.
During his address, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif praised the resilience of the Pakistani people and especially the youth, calling them a symbol of the country’s bright and secure future. He emphasized the importance of education and civic responsibility, commending teachers for their vital role in shaping the next generation.
“Pakistan is a cradle of peace, and our victory is a victory for peace itself,” he declared. The DG ISPR also stressed that the military remains vigilant against hostile designs and has consistently thwarted enemy plots through a combination of preparedness and national solidarity.
Lt Gen Chaudhry called on the nation to remain united against divisive elements, including those who question the military’s role in national defence. “Ask them today — has the army fulfilled its duty or not?” he urged the audience. He also accused India of sponsoring terrorism within Pakistan, asserting that New Delhi’s hand can be seen in various destabilizing activities across the country.
Ending his address, he reiterated the unbreakable bond between the people and the armed forces, referring to the citizens — particularly the youth — as the “steel wall” defending the nation.
