A horrifying video showing the honour killing in Balochistan of a man and a woman has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread condemnation and prompting urgent action from provincial authorities. The disturbing footage shows the couple being executed by unidentified assailants, reportedly for marrying against their family’s wishes.
Initial investigations indicate the incident occurred several days before Eid, though it only came to light after the video began circulating online. The couple is believed to have entered into a love marriage, which allegedly led to their murder in the name of so-called honour — a practice still prevalent in parts of Pakistan despite legal safeguards.
CM Bugti Orders Action in Balochistan Honour Killing Case, One Suspect Arrested
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the act, calling it a “blatant insult to social values and human dignity.” In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), CM Bugti confirmed that a case has been registered under anti-terrorism laws, and one suspect involved in the woman’s murder has been taken into custody.
A search operation is underway to apprehend all those involved. CM Bugti directed police to act swiftly and assured the public that justice will be served. “The law will take its course, and the culprits will be punished with full severity,” he stated.
Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind added that law enforcement agencies have been instructed to locate the exact site of the crime and ensure every perpetrator is brought to justice. The chief minister also emphasized that the state will not tolerate such brutality: “No one has the right to take the law into their own hands.”
Despite growing public awareness and stricter laws, honour killings in Pakistan continue to be a grim reality, especially in rural and tribal regions.
