Victoria Beckham has revealed that she was completely taken aback when Geri Horner suddenly left the Spice Girls back in 1998. The fashion icon and former pop star shared her memories of that time during a recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast.
Geri’s Unexpected Departure Shocks the Group
Victoria said she had “no idea” Geri planned to quit the group. “She just left,” Victoria recalled. “We had no idea until she just didn’t turn up.” The surprise exit caught the group off guard. Speaking about it now, she said, “We can laugh about it, but at the time, we were like, ‘OK.’” Despite the shock, Victoria and Geri remain close, with the two even sharing a laugh about the incident during a recent phone call.
Victoria’s Challenges with Pregnancy and Motherhood
Victoria also opened up about her own departure from the Spice Girls in 1999, which came after the birth of her son Brooklyn. She described the tough experience of touring while pregnant, saying, “I was in Miami in August, in a PVC catsuit, pregnant, with terrible morning sickness.” She recalled constantly having to leave the stage during performances due to sickness.
Though she felt blessed to be starting a family with her husband, David Beckham, Victoria admitted that adjusting to motherhood was difficult. “To go from travelling the world with your best friends to suddenly being at home in a flat with a baby, it was tough,” she shared.
Victoria’s story reflects the challenges behind the scenes of fame and family life, highlighting her resilience during a transformative period.
