Uzbekistan and Pakistan continue to deepen their bilateral relationship, expanding cooperation across multiple sectors. Among these, air connectivity has emerged as a key driver of economic and diplomatic engagement. Uzbekistan Airways has now announced a significant expansion of its Pakistan operations to meet growing demand.
Doubling Flights Between Islamabad and Tashkent
According to an official statement, starting October 28, 2025, the airline will double flights on the “Tashkent–Islamabad–Tashkent” route. The frequency will increase from one weekly flight to two. Currently, Uzbekistan Airways operates two weekly flights between Tashkent and Lahore, and one weekly flight between Tashkent and Islamabad. Persistent high demand, with seats often sold out days before departure, prompted this expansion.
Boosting Trade, Tourism, and People-to-People Links
Officials emphasized that greater flight frequency will provide convenience for travelers while also boosting bilateral trade and business partnerships. The move is expected to stimulate tourism and promote cultural exchanges between the two countries. By strengthening air connectivity, Uzbekistan and Pakistan aim to build closer ties not only at the governmental level but also between their citizens.
Expanding Global Reach for Pakistani Travelers
The expansion also carries international advantages. Tashkent International Airport functions as a major regional transit hub. With more flights to Tashkent, Pakistani passengers will enjoy smoother access to destinations in Europe, North America, and Asia. This development positions Uzbekistan Airways as a strong option for global connections, offering Pakistani travelers greater flexibility and connectivity.
A Step Toward Stronger Bilateral Relations
This expansion reflects both countries’ shared commitment to closer relations through economic diplomacy. By enhancing air connectivity, Uzbekistan and Pakistan are not only improving transport links but also laying a stronger foundation for long-term cooperation across sectors.
