The United States has announced a reward of up to $10 million for information on senior Iranian military and intelligence officials, including Iranโs new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.
According to the US State Department, the offer covers ten officials associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The Revolutionary Guards were established following the Iranian Revolution and remain loyal to the countryโs supreme leader. The force plays a central role in protecting Iranโs clerical leadership and managing key security operations.
Meanwhile, Mojtaba Khamenei assumed leadership after his father, Ali Khamenei, was killed alongside several senior officials during joint military strikes by the United States and Israel on February 28. Reports suggest the younger Khamenei was injured in the attacks and has not appeared publicly since, although he released a statement on Thursday.
Additional officials are listed in the reward programme
In addition to Khamenei, Washington is seeking information on several high-ranking Iranian officials. These include security chief Ali Larijani, Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, as well as two officials working in the supreme leaderโs office.
However, Larijani appeared publicly in Tehran on Friday. Verified footage showed him attending a rally alongside Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.
The reward programme also mentions four additional officials, including the commander of the Revolutionary Guards and the secretary of Iranโs defence council, although their names and photographs were not released.
According to the State Department, the targeted individuals oversee operations conducted by the IRGC.
The United States has designated the organisation as a foreign terrorist group and has previously blamed Iran for assassination plots against Donald Trump and other officials following the killing of Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani in 2020.
