US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee confirmed on Monday that a branch of the American embassy in Tel Aviv sustained minor damage from nearby Iranian missile strikes, though no injuries were reported among US personnel.
The strike came amid a fierce exchange of fire between Israel and Iran, with Tehran launching a barrage of missiles at Israeli cities in retaliation for Israel’s recent attacks on key Iranian military and nuclear targets. Both nations have warned of continued escalation.
According to Huckabee, “Some minor damage from concussions of Iranian missile hits near the Embassy Branch in Tel Aviv [was reported], but no injuries to US personnel.” He shared the update on social media platform X.
Images showed several buildings in Tel Aviv gutted by the strikes, as Israel’s military urged residents to seek shelter during the onslaught. Iranian missiles also reportedly hit Haifa as part of the attack.
The US embassy in Jerusalem remained closed Monday, with shelter-in-place orders still in effect, Huckabee added.
The rapidly intensifying conflict follows decades of hostility and shadow warfare between the two countries. Israel’s recent strikes reportedly targeted Iranian military and nuclear infrastructure, killing several senior commanders and atomic scientists.
In a move to de-escalate tensions, a senior US official revealed that President Donald Trump intervened to stop an Israeli plan to assassinate Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
While Trump has publicly encouraged both sides to reach a diplomatic solution, he also told reporters on Sunday that “sometimes they have to fight it out” before a deal becomes possible.
