Eid ul Fitr Holidays Confirmed from March 20 to March 23
The University of the Punjab has officially announced its holiday schedule for Eid ul Fitr 2026. The notification outlines closures for both academic and administrative units. Students and staff have been advised to plan accordingly.
According to the Registrarโs Office, the university will remain fully closed from Friday, March 20 to Monday, March 23, 2026. The closure is in observance of Eid ul Fitr 2026. All teaching and administrative departments will remain shut during these four days.
The notification states that routine classes and official work will be suspended. This applies to teaching departments, institutes, centers, constituent colleges, and affiliated schools. No academic or administrative activities will take place during the Eid holidays.
The decision ensures that faculty members, students, and staff can celebrate Eid with their families. The university administration has circulated the schedule to all relevant offices. Implementation instructions have also been issued.
University officials emphasized that the closure applies across the entire campus network. All academic units and administrative offices will follow the same Eid break timeline.
Spring Recess to Follow Immediately After Eid
Right after Eid ul Fitr holidays, the university will observe its annual spring recess. The spring break will begin on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. It will continue until Friday, March 27, 2026.
The spring recess applies mainly to academic units. Teaching departments, institutes, centers, constituent colleges, and schools will remain closed for classes. Academic activities will be paused during this period.
However, there is a key distinction in the schedule. Administrative offices will reopen on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. Staff members will resume official duties even as academic departments remain on spring break.
This arrangement aims to ensure smooth administrative operations. University management wants to avoid delays in official matters and academic planning. Office work will continue without disruption.
Classes and academic activities are scheduled to restart on Monday, March 30, 2026. Students are expected to return to campus as per the announced schedule. Faculty members will also resume teaching duties from that date.
Registrar Issues Official Notification
The holiday schedule was issued under the signature of Registrar Dr. Ahmed Islam. The notification was formally circulated among university leadership and departmental heads. All relevant offices have been directed to comply.
University authorities have advised students and employees to plan travel and personal commitments according to the announced dates. The administration stressed the importance of adhering to the official schedule.
The clear separation between Eid holidays and spring recess has been highlighted. Full closure will apply during Eid. Limited closure will apply during the spring break.
With the announcement, students now have clarity on the March 2026 academic calendar. The university has confirmed that all academic activities will resume on time after the break.
The combined Eid and spring holidays provide an extended pause in March 2026. However, administrative functions will continue during the latter half to maintain institutional workflow.
