On Thursday, a spokesperson for the Foreign Office said that UN Secretary-General António Guterres would visit Pakistan on September 9 and 10 as part of a “solidarity” mission in response to the country’s recent devastation by massive floods.
The FO stated that Secretary-General Guterres would meet with Pakistani leaders and senior officials during his visit to discuss the national and international responses to the climate change catastrophe.

The UN Secretary-visit, General according to the foreign office, “will further raise global awareness about the massive scale of this calamity and the resulting loss of life and widespread devastation.” It will also help improve a commensurate and coordinated international response to the 33 million Pakistanis who are affected by the disaster’s humanitarian and other needs.
It would “help to enhance commensurate and coordinated international response to the humanitarian and other needs of the 33 million affected Pakistanis,” the UN claims.
