British police are investigating a fire that broke out overnight at a house owned by Prime Minister Keir Starmer in north London. Authorities confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.
A spokesperson for Starmer’s Downing Street office said, “The Prime Minister thanks the emergency services for their work. The incident is subject to a live investigation and we will therefore not be commenting further.”
According to a statement from London’s Metropolitan Police, officers were called at approximately 1:35 a.m. local time following reports of a fire. “Damage was caused to the property’s entrance. Nobody was hurt,” the statement said. Police added that an investigation is ongoing, with cordons still in place at the scene.
The London Fire Brigade described the blaze as a “small fire” and confirmed it had responded to the incident promptly.
While the police did not directly name the prime minister in their statement, the property is known to be one of Starmer’s residences in north London. Since becoming Prime Minister in July 2024, Starmer has primarily resided at his official residence in Downing Street.
The motive behind the fire remains unclear, and authorities have yet to determine whether the incident was accidental or deliberate.
