Digital process removes passport sticker requirement
Pakistani citizens can now use the United Kingdomโs new e-Visa system, a step designed to simplify applications and improve convenience for travelers. The British High Commission announced that the digital system will facilitate Pakistanis visiting the UK for tourism and business purposes.
Under the revised procedure, authorities will issue visa verification through email, eliminating the need for a physical visa sticker on passports. Applicants will submit their forms online and complete biometric verification as required. Once approved, travelers will access their visa through a digital record linked to their UK Visas and Immigration online account.
As a result, applicants will no longer need to revisit visa application centers to collect passports, making the process faster and more efficient. Moreover, travelers can generate a share code to confirm their immigration status at border control or when requested by relevant authorities.
Officials clarified that although the system has shifted to a digital format, eligibility criteria, documentation requirements, and the overall visa process remain unchanged.
Meanwhile, British High Commissioner Jane Marriott described the initiative as a major facilitation for Pakistani citizens. She said the e-Visa platform will streamline travel procedures and enhance accessibility.
Earlier, on July 15, 2025, the High Commission introduced the e-Visa system for Pakistani students and workers planning to study or work in the UK. Most applicants in those categories no longer require visa stickers and can instead view their immigration status online through the secure digital platform.
