The United Arab Emirates said its air defence systems intercepted 10 ballistic missiles and 26 drones launched from Iran in the latest wave of attacks, according to the country’s Ministry of Defence.
Officials said the military “interacted” with the projectiles on Thursday as air defence units tracked and neutralised the incoming threats. Authorities did not immediately report casualties or major damage linked to the latest incident.
The interception marks another episode in the ongoing regional escalation tied to the conflict involving Iran and its adversaries. Gulf states have remained on high alert as missile and drone attacks continue to target strategic infrastructure and allied territories.
Hundreds of projectiles have been intercepted since the conflict began
Meanwhile, the defence ministry said UAE forces have dealt with hundreds of Iranian projectiles since the beginning of the attacks. According to official figures, air defence systems have engaged a total of 278 ballistic missiles and 1,540 drones fired toward the country.
Military officials stressed that defence units remain fully prepared to confront any threats to national security. They also reaffirmed the armed forces’ commitment to protecting the country’s sovereignty and safeguarding residents and infrastructure.
Furthermore, the ministry urged the public to rely on official information channels and avoid spreading rumours or unverified reports during the ongoing security situation.
Regional tensions have intensified in recent weeks following the outbreak of large-scale hostilities involving Iran and its rivals, which has triggered missile and drone strikes across several Gulf states.
