ISLAMABAD: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, arrived in Islamabad on Sunday for a two-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and the UAE.
The visit, taking place from April 20 to 21, marks a significant step in enhancing cooperation between the two nations, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, and energy.
Upon arrival, Sheikh Abdullah was warmly received by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar. According to a statement released by Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the high-level visit reflects the deeply rooted, fraternal ties between the two countries and underlines their mutual commitment to expand cooperation across all areas of common interest.

During his stay, Sheikh Abdullah is scheduled to hold comprehensive discussions with Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and will also call on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. These meetings will cover the entire spectrum of Pakistan-UAE bilateral relations, with a particular emphasis on trade, investment, regional security, energy collaboration, and people-to-people connections.
The Foreign Office noted that these talks will also serve as a platform to exchange views on pressing regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The visit is expected to reaffirm the shared vision of Pakistan and the UAE for regional peace and prosperity. It also aims to build on the momentum created by recent high-level engagements, such as the visit of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Pakistan in February.
That visit led to the signing of five agreements focused on enhancing cooperation in sectors including banking, railways, mining, and infrastructure.
Pakistan and the UAE have a long-standing relationship that spans economic, political, and cultural domains. The UAE is home to a significant Pakistani diaspora, and recently introduced five-year visas for Pakistani nationals, further strengthening people-to-people ties.
This latest visit by Sheikh Abdullah is anticipated to deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries and bring tangible benefits to both nations.
