The United Arab Emirates today imposed a ban on the use of its airspace or territory for attacks against Iran. UAE officials held a press briefing today to highlight detailed security, economic, and humanitarian steps.
Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Co-operation, said the UAE had adopted a clear and measured position. She stressed that the country would not permit its land or airspace to serve as a launchpad for military action against Iran. At the same time, she affirmed the UAEโs right to defend its sovereignty and protect citizens, residents and visitors.
Moreover, Al Hashimy described Iranโs ballistic missile programme as a threat to the wider Gulf region. She said regional security remains โindivisibleโ and warned that escalation would undermine stability. However, she emphasized that no military solution exists and urged diplomatic engagement.
The minister also confirmed that the UAE closed its embassy in Tehran and withdrew its ambassador following recent Iranian attacks.
Authorities Stress Military Readiness and Market Stability
Meanwhile, Major General Abdul Nasser Al Humaidi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence, said the UAE would never accept any compromise to its sovereignty. He explained that recent sounds reported by residents resulted from missile interceptions and confirmed that armed forces remain on high combat alert.
In addition, Economy and Tourism Minister Abdulla bin Touq said the country maintains strategic reserves of essential food and goods sufficient for four to six months. He assured residents that shortages pose no risk and warned against panic buying.
Furthermore, officials confirmed that 80 daily flights continue to operate, while the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority said essential services remain fully functional nationwide.
