Two police officers were injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire on the Utla Police Station in Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Thursday, according to Station House Officer (SHO) Utla.
Police responded swiftly with return fire, and additional reinforcements were deployed to the area, confirmed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Swabi. An exchange of gunfire between police and the attackers remained ongoing at the time of reporting.
In a separate incident, a Levies officer was killed amid intense gunfire and explosions carried out by unidentified assailants in the Mangchar area of Kalat district, Balochistan. The violence, which continued throughout Friday, brought life to a halt and disrupted traffic along the Quetta-Karachi National Highway.
According to Levies sources, the attackers launched a coordinated assault across multiple locations in Mangchar. One of the targeted sites was a Levies checkpoint in Kot Langove, where a Levies officer was fatally shot. His body was transported to the Rural Health Centre (RHC) in Mangchar.
Simultaneously, a powerful explosion occurred beneath a bridge in Rahimabad, Mangchar, along the national highway. While the blast caused minor structural damage to the bridge, officials confirmed there were no casualties from the explosion.
Security forces are continuing search operations in both regions as investigations are underway.
