TANK: Counter-Terrorism Department personnel gunned down two high-profile terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during an intelligence-based operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwaโs Tank district on Wednesday.
After the exchange of fire, CTD teams launched a search operation and found the bodies of two terrorists. Two Kalashnikov rifles, six magazines, cartridges and two bandoliers were recovered from their possession.
Moreover, the slain terrorists were affiliated with the TTPโs Mushtaq group. CTD said both men were involved in several attacks on police, including the target killing of a head constable and the abduction and murder of another constable.
Furthermore, they were also behind multiple IED attacks on law enforcement. They also attacked on a judgesโ convoy in Lakki Marwat in August 2024, in which two police personnel were martyred.
KP Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed and the Additional IG CTD praised the Special Weapons and Tactics Team for the successful operation. They said security forces will continue such actions to eliminate terrorism and ensure the safety of the public.
Ten days ago, six terrorists were killed in a joint CTD and police operation in Kohat district. Last month, nine police personnel, including a DSP, were martyred in separate attacks in Bhakkar, Kohat and Wana. Just days before that, three FC personnel lost their lives in a terrorist attack in Karak.
