Türkiye has officially delivered its first locally developed Altay tanks to its armed forces. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made the announcement during the inauguration of the BMC Ankara Tank and New Generation Armored Vehicles Production Facility.
Rigorous Trials Completed
The Altay tanks underwent a 35,000-kilometre testing program and 3,700 live-fire trials before entering service. Erdogan said the upgraded platform is engineered to survive the toughest combat environments and enhance battlefield dominance.
New Production Capacity Unveiled
The facility spans 63,000 square metres and will manufacture eight Altay tanks and 10 Altug armored vehicles each month. The president described the Altug vehicles as “fortresses of the battlefield,” reinforcing Türkiye’s growing defense capabilities.
Türkiye’s Rising Defence Footprint
Erdogan said Türkiye continues to strengthen its air, land, and naval assets with state-of-the-art technologies. “We are no longer just a state that follows; we are a state that is followed,” he declared.
