Türkiye has strongly condemned the recent deadly attacks on the Zamzam refugee camp near Al Fasher in Sudan, which claimed the lives of numerous civilians and humanitarian aid workers.
In an official statement released Monday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry denounced the violence, stating: “We condemn the attacks carried out on the Zamzam refugee camp near Al Fasher, Sudan, which resulted in the killing of humanitarian aid workers and many civilians.”
Reaffirming Türkiye’s firm opposition to the targeting of non-combatants, the ministry added, “Targeting civilians cannot be justified under any circumstances.”
The statement also highlighted growing concern over the deepening humanitarian crisis in Al Fasher, where ongoing fighting and blockades have severely limited access to essential resources such as food, water, and medical aid.
“We reiterate our call for an immediate end to the siege of Al Fasher and the suffering of the Sudanese people,” the ministry urged.
Türkiye also reaffirmed its longstanding support for Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, stating: “We reaffirm our strong support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Sudan.”
The appeal comes amid escalating conflict in Sudan’s Darfur region, where violence continues to endanger civilians and disrupt the delivery of humanitarian assistance.
