ISLAMABAD: In response to reports of Greek forces pushing irregular migrants, Turkish Coast Guard units conducted a rescue operation, saving these migrants from rubber boats near the shores of the Dikili and Menderes districts in Izmir, located within the Aegean Sea. This action comes amidst international criticism of Greece’s actions.

The Turkish Coast Guard announced the rescue of 125 irregular migrants in the Aegean Sea. Greek authorities had illegally pushed them back into Turkish territorial waters.
Yesterday, a coast guard units spotted groups of irregular migrants in rubber boats off the coasts of the Dikili and Menderes districts in western Izmir province.
The coast guard then conducted a successful rescue operation at sea. They transported the rescued migrants to the provincial migration authority for standard procedures.
Turkey, along with global human rights groups, condemned Greece’s unlawful practice of forcibly returning irregular migrants.
This practice not only disregarded humanitarian principles but also violated international law, putting the lives of vulnerable migrants, including women and children, at grave risk.
Turkey has played a significant role as a transit point for irregular migrants aiming to cross into Europe for a fresh start. This is particularly true for those who are escaping war and persecution.
