Donald Trump’s Turnberry golf resort in Scotland has been vandalized with pro-Palestinian graffiti, with a protest group claiming responsibility for the act.
Images circulating in local media on Saturday revealed red paint sprayed across the walls of the course with slogans such as “Free Gaza” and “Free Palestine,” along with derogatory remarks against Trump. Additionally, the phrase “Gaza is not for sale” was painted on one of the greens, and holes were dug into the course.
Activist group Palestine Action took credit for the incident, posting on social media: “Whilst Trump attempts to treat Gaza as his property, he should know his own property is within reach.”
The protest follows Trump’s controversial statement last month, in which he proposed that the United States take control of Gaza, resettle its over 2-million Palestinian residents, and transform the region into the “Riviera of the Middle East.” His remarks sparked widespread outrage across the Arab world.
Police Scotland has launched an investigation into the incident. “At approximately 4:40 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, we received a report of damage to the golf course and a premises on Maidens Road, Turnberry,” a police spokesperson stated, confirming that inquiries are ongoing.
Meanwhile, in a separate protest on the same day, a man waving a Palestinian flag climbed Big Ben at London’s Palace of Westminster, drawing further attention to the ongoing global demonstrations in support of Palestine.
