US President Donald Trump has expressed confidence in reaching a peace agreement with Iran following the recently announced ceasefire, while indicating that Israel is reducing the intensity of its military actions in Lebanon.
In an interview with NBC News, Trump said he was “very optimistic” about securing a deal with Tehran. He noted that Iranian leadership appeared “much more reasonable” in private discussions, though he warned that failure to reach an agreement could have serious consequences.
The remarks come as Vice President JD Vance prepares to travel to Islamabad for talks with Iranian officials scheduled for Saturday, in what is seen as a key step toward formal negotiations.
Meanwhile, Trump revealed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had agreed during a phone call to scale back military operations in Lebanon after a wave of deadly strikes earlier this week.
The development signals a potential de-escalation in regional tensions, although the situation remains fragile amid ongoing hostilities and diplomatic uncertainty.
