ISLAMABAD: On Saturday, US President Donald Trump called on billionaire Elon Musk to ramp up his efforts to reduce the size of the federal government, despite the backlash over layoffs and significant budget cuts.
“Elon is doing a great job, but I would like to see him get more aggressive,” Trump wrote in all uppercase letters on his Truth Social platform. “Remember, we have a country to save, but ultimately, to make it greater than ever before. MAGA!”
Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a body established by Trump, has carried out sweeping cuts across federal agencies, laying off tens of thousands of federal employees, ranging from scientists to park rangers, with the majority being on probation.
