The assault occurred when approximately 200 militants, reportedly affiliated with the group Fitna-e-Hindustan, stormed coal mines in the Hanna Orak Kali Mangal area, setting fire to equipment and facilities.
Upon hearing of the attack, Sardar Abdul Salam Bazai and his brother, both members of the Kakar Bazai tribe, rushed to the site to assess the damage. As they pursued the retreating militants, one of the explosive devices planted by the attackers detonated, resulting in their immediate martyrdom and injuring six others. The injured individualsโidentified as Janan, Saif ur Rehman, Samiullah, Muhammad Asif, and Naseebullahโwere promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Security forces, including Frontier Corps and Levies personnel, swiftly responded to the scene, cordoned off the area, and initiated a search operation to apprehend the assailants. The incident has intensified concerns over the security situation in Balochistan, where militant groups have escalated attacks on civilian and security targets in recent months.
The martyrdom of Sardar Abdul Salam Bazai and his brother underscores the ongoing challenges faced by tribal leaders and local communities in Balochistan, who continue to be targeted by militant elements despite their efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.
