ISLAMABAD: A motorcyclist tragically lost his life after suffering critical injuries in a road accident involving a trailer in Landhi’s Industrial Area, confirmed police early Thursday morning.
Officials reported that the accident also left two individuals injured, both of whom were rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, one of the victims succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment, while the other remains hospitalized.
Police are currently working to track down the trailer truck driver, who fled the scene following the incident.
Meanwhile, rescue authorities revealed that the number of fatalities from road accidents in Karachi this year has risen to 138, with 46 deaths resulting from accidents involving heavy vehicles.
In response to growing public concerns over road safety, the Sindh government has now made it mandatory for all heavy transport vehicles to obtain fitness certification and registration. Vehicles failing to meet the required standards will be prohibited from operating.
Additionally, Karachi’s dumper truck movement hours have been adjusted. Instead of the previous 11pm to 6pm window, these trucks can now operate between 10pm and 6am to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance road safety.
