A tragic road accident on GT Road in Muridke resulted in the loss of seven lives from a single family and left three individuals severely injured. According to rescue officials, the accident occurred when a car carrying the family members collided with a truck at the Ravi-Ryan U-turn due to excessive speeding. When the collision occurred, the family was on their way from Multan to Gujranwala.
Among the deceased were Zaheer Ahmed, his wife Irum, their sons Ayan and Abdul Wahab, along with two other relatives, Shehbaz and Iman. The injured individuals, Shamim, Naseem, and Khadeeja, are reportedly in critical condition.
Following the accident, the bodies of the deceased and the injured were promptly transported to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Muridke. Subsequently, the injured were transferred to Meo Hospital for further medical attention.
The family, accompanied by other relatives, had returned from a wedding ceremony in Multan when the unfortunate incident occurred.
Initial investigations suggest that the accident was caused by the abrupt braking of the truck ahead of the car, leading to a collision. The truck driver fled the scene after the accident, prompting the police to launch a search operation and take the truck into custody.
This heart-wrenching incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for vigilance while driving, particularly on busy highways like GT Road. The loss of precious lives in such accidents underscores the devastating consequences of negligence and reckless driving.
