ISLAMABAD: PM Shehbaz Sharif and President Zardari are among those who have received gifts from Toshakhana in 2025. The Cabinet Division has released the Toshakhana records for January to June 2025.
The data shows 137 entries of gifts presented to state officials during foreign visits and engagements.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received 61 gifts, mostly luxury and traditional items.
Notably, he was given two high-end wristwatches on January 1 by Sheikh Abdul Hadi Mana Al-Hajri of Qatar.
The watches included an IWC Schaffhausen and a Panerai, both with warranty cards.
Golden Kris and Electric Car Among Key Gifts
The Shah of Selangor, Malaysia, presented Shehbaz Sharif with a Golden Kris, a traditional ceremonial dagger.
The President of Turkiye gifted him an electric car, adding significant value to the record.
During his Azerbaijan visit, Shehbaz received a handmade silk carpet and other decorative items.
Tajikistan’s president gifted him a golden teacup with a spoon inside a decorative box.
Religious and Cultural Presents from Saudi Arabia and Iran
While in Saudi Arabia, Shehbaz was gifted a model of Mimbar-e-Rasool by Prince Mansour Bin Muhammad Al Saud.
Additionally, Dr Mohammad Abdulkareem Al-Issa gave him a wooden box with the Charter of Makkah in Arabic and English.
From Iran, the Chief of General Staff presented him with a wall hanging and a shield.
Other gifts included handmade carpets, books, onyx decorations, and tea sets.
Saudi Interior Minister Gifted Dozens of Watches
Interestingly, the Saudi hosts gave more lavish items to visiting Pakistani officials than to Shehbaz himself.
On January 28, the Saudi Interior Minister gifted 23 high-end watches to Pakistan’s delegation.
The collection included Rolex, Tudor, Black Armin, and Frank Rosha watches, mainly distributed among bureaucrats.
President Zardari and Other Leaders Also Received Gifts
President Asif Ali Zardari received 11 gifts, including an electric car from Turkiye’s president.
He also received a carpet from Iran’s foreign minister, vases, candle stands, shields, and onyx pieces.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar received Afghan carpets and traditional bowls.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was gifted prayer mats and Turkish handicrafts.
Other ministers, advisers, and security officials received rugs, porcelain items, wall hangings, and watches.
