Bomb Threat
As the ICC Menโs Cricket World Cup 2023 unfolds in India, an email threatening to detonate Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where multiple tournament matches are held, has reportedly reached the Mumbai Police.
The email, sent to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), includes a demand for Rs500 crore and the release of imprisoned gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to halt the impending attack. The sender claims that militants are already in position to execute the assaults.

Moreover, the email warns, “We will blow up Narendra Modi and the Narendra Modi stadium as well if the government fails to pay us Rs500 crore and release Lawrence Bishnoi. Everything sells in Hindustan, so we too have bought something.
No matter how much you secure, you wonโt be able to remain safe from us. If you wish to talk, do so on this email.”
A police official informed the media that all relevant agencies have alerted, and they have traced the email’s origin.
Preliminary investigations suggest the email emanated from Europe, hinting at the possibility of a hoax or mischief from a foreign source. Nevertheless, security forces are actively searching for the sender, and safety measures for all cricket matches will reassessed and strengthened if necessary.
This threat follows a previous warning by Khalistani separatists who threatened to turn the World Cup into a “World Terror Cup.”
In response, Ahmedabad police’s cybercrime branch filed an FIR against Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the leader of the Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) organization.
Following this, authorities increased stadium security, deploying around 3,500 police personnel for the opening match on October 5 at Motera’s Narendra Modi Stadium. Overall, During ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, Mumbai Police received a bomb threat targeting Modi and the stadium.
