The World Bank has approved a $194 million loan for Pakistan to fund two major development projects in Balochistan, focusing on education and water security.
According to the World Bank, the funding will support initiatives aimed at expanding educational access for children and enhancing the province’s water resilience, particularly in the face of climate change.
World Bank Country Director Najy Benhassine emphasized that the projects are designed to reduce educational deprivation in the region. He also highlighted that the Balochistan Water Security Project will play a key role in strengthening climate resilience and sustainable water management.
In addition to long-term development goals, the World Bank stated that these investments in both infrastructure and human capital will generate employment opportunities and contribute to economic stability in Balochistan.
