The hit Prime Video series The Summer I Turned Pretty is set to conclude with a feature film, the streaming platform announced on Wednesday.
Adapted from Jenny Han’s beloved coming-of-age trilogy, the series has captivated audiences worldwide since its debut in 2022 with its multigenerational drama, emotional storytelling, and the central love triangle between Belly (Isabel), Jeremiah, and Conrad.
Han, who both wrote the novels and served as showrunner for the series, will return to write and direct the film, which is being described as the final chapter of Belly’s journey.
Speaking about the decision, Han explained that while the story reached its climactic end in the third season, there remained one major milestone in Belly’s life that she believed only a feature-length film could portray adequately. She thanked Prime Video for backing her vision and for supporting her in bringing closure to fans who have invested deeply in the characters’ journeys.
The third and final season premiered this week in the US and UK, leaving Belly caught between her ex-fiancé Jeremiah and his brother Conrad, reigniting the heated Team Conrad vs. Team Jeremiah debate among fans.
The official announcement of the film was revealed during the Season 3 premiere celebration in Paris, where stars Lola Tung (Belly) and Christopher Briney (Conrad) appeared together on the red carpet in front of a billboard promoting the new project.
Over the years, the series has become a cultural touchstone, sparking intense online discussions, fan rivalries, and even backlash toward its actors—prompting Han herself to urge audiences to “act normal online.”
Despite the controversies, The Summer I Turned Pretty has stood out as one of Prime Video’s biggest global hits, praised for capturing joy, nostalgia, and emotional connection. With the upcoming feature film, Amazon MGM Studios and Jenny Han promise fans a heartfelt, definitive conclusion to Belly’s story.
