Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated following a series of Indian military strikes on Pakistani territory. Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, confirmed that Indian drones attempted intrusions in multiple Pakistani cities, including Lahore, Islamabad, and Karachi. The Pakistan Armed Forces successfully downed 12 of these drones. Tragically, the attacks resulted in the martyrdom of one individual and injuries to another in Sindh province .
In a retaliatory operation, Pakistan’s Air Force shot down five Indian aircraft, including three Rafale jets, in response to India’s recent aggression. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif confirmed the downing of these jets and emphasized that Indian media had admitted to the crash of three aircraft in Indian-occupied Kashmir. He condemned the Indian strikes for targeting civilians, including women and children, labeling them a blatant violation of international law .
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the nation, calling India’s actions a “grave mistake” that would not go unpunished. He stated that India had made a strategic miscalculation and would pay the price for its error, underestimating the resolve of the Pakistani people .
DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry issued a stern warning, stating that every drop of innocent blood will be avenged. He condemned India’s missile strikes as a cowardly and disgraceful attack on innocent civilians, resulting in the martyrdom of 31 individuals and injuries to at least 57 others .
In response to the escalating situation, the National Security Committee (NSC) of Pakistan convened and granted the armed forces the authority to respond decisively to India’s aggression. The NSC emphasized Pakistan’s right to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, reserving the right to respond at a time and place of its choosing .
International reactions have varied. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoฤan expressed support for Pakistan’s calm and restrained policy amid the tensions, offering condolences for the lives lost and advocating for a de-escalation of the situation . Meanwhile, China and Russia have expressed deep concern over the escalation of conflict between the two nations .
The United Nations Secretary-General Antรณnio Guterres has also expressed serious concern over the rising tensions, urging both India and Pakistan to exercise maximum restraint and emphasizing the need for de-escalation and diplomacy.
The situation remains volatile, with both countries on high alert and international calls for restraint and dialogue intensifying.
