As anticipation builds for Euphoria‘s third season, Sydney Sweeney is reflecting on why she holds her character, Cassie Howard, so close to her heart.
In a recent interview, the 27-year-old actress shared her deep connection to the emotionally volatile character she’s portrayed since the show’s debut.
“I have such a soft spot in my heart for Cassie,” Sweeney said. “She’s flawed on so many levels, she makes a lot of mistakes—but everything she does comes from a place of love. Sometimes it’s a very sad version of love, but that’s what makes her so human.”
Sweeney also spoke about the thrill of playing someone so complex. “It’s so much fun to play a character that is as crazy as she is,” she admitted.
Praising series creator Sam Levinson, she revealed how collaborative the creative process can be. “Sam is such a brilliant filmmaker to work with. I’ll read something in the script, call him, and say, ‘Let’s go crazier.’ And he’s like, ‘I’m all in.’”
When asked whether Season 3 will push boundaries even further, Sweeney simply laughed and confirmed, “Yes.”
Euphoria‘s second season aired in early 2022, leaving fans eager to see where the story—and Cassie’s chaotic journey—goes next.
