Tibba Sultanpur police in Vehari district swiftly arrested an injured suspect who allegedly raped a five-year-old girl in Chak 124/WB. The dramatic capture unfolded when the accused tried to escape authorities, only for his own pistol to discharge inside his trousers and severely injure his genitals.
According to police reports, the horrifying incident occurred on Thursday. The suspect dragged the young girl, who was returning home after buying candies, into his drawing room and assaulted her. Local residents rushed to the scene after hearing her cries for help, prompting the man to flee. Officers received a reliable tip-off about his hideout and launched a raid. As police closed in, the suspect bolted, stumbled, and triggered the accidental shot. Authorities immediately heard the gunshot, reached him, and found him wounded on the ground. They arrested him on the spot, recovered his 30-bore pistol, and rushed him to a hospital for urgent treatment.
This case echoes several recent incidents in the region where fleeing suspects suffered self-inflicted firearm injuries during pursuits.
