ISLAMABAD: Two suspects involved in the murder of Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) Director (Land) Ihsan Elahi were killed during a police encounter, reportedly by their own accomplices, authorities confirmed on Friday.
Suspects Identified as Abid Yaseen and Abrar Khan
According to Islamabad Capital Police (ICT), the suspects — Abid Yaseen and Abrar Khan — were wanted for the October 7 Blue Area shooting that killed Ihsan Elahi and injured another man, Qaiser Ashfaq, outside Loafology Bakery. Both victims were shot multiple times; Elahi succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Arrest and Interrogation
After the incident, the suspects went into hiding. Special police teams launched a search and later apprehended them during a routine check in the Noon police jurisdiction.
During interrogation, the duo confessed to their role in the targeted killing and agreed to help police locate their accomplices.
Ambush During Follow-Up Operation
As officers escorted the suspects to identify their associates, unidentified gunmen opened fire on the police team. Law enforcement personnel remained safe due to timely protective measures, but both detainees were fatally shot — allegedly by bullets fired by their own accomplices during the exchange.
Investigation Underway
Police shifted the bodies to a nearby hospital for post-mortem examination and have launched a manhunt for the remaining suspects linked to the murder.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to bring all those involved in the Blue Area killing to justice.
