Police discovered the bodies of a father and his two sons inside a house in Lahore’s Kahna area on Saturday. The incident occurred in the Central Park locality and shocked nearby residents.
According to police officials, neighbours alerted authorities after noticing a strong, foul smell coming from the house. As a result, police teams rushed to the scene and forced entry into the locked home. Inside, they found three decomposed bodies.
The victims were identified as 65-year-old Numan Akhtar and his sons, Kamran Akhtar, 35, and Imran Akhtar, 30. Police confirmed that the family lived together in the house.
Initial observations showed that the bodies were in an advanced stage of decomposition. Therefore, investigators believe the deaths occurred nearly 20 days ago. Due to the condition of the bodies, police suspect that all three were murdered.
Police Begin Investigation and Forensic Examination
Soon after the discovery, police shifted the bodies to a nearby morgue for post-mortem examinations. Medical teams will determine the exact cause and time of death. Meanwhile, police sealed the house to preserve evidence.
Crime scene units collected forensic samples from different rooms. Investigators also photographed the scene to document key details. Furthermore, police sent evidence to laboratories for further analysis.
Officers stated that they found no immediate signs of forced entry. Consequently, investigators are considering the possibility that the victims knew the person or people involved.
Authorities Explore Motives and Search for Suspects
At this stage, police have not made any arrests. However, investigation teams are actively working on multiple leads. They are examining personal, financial and family-related motives.
In addition, police are reviewing phone records and tracing the victims’ last known contacts. Investigators are also questioning neighbours and relatives to build a clearer timeline.
Officials said the family maintained a low profile, which may explain why the deaths remained unnoticed for weeks. Nonetheless, police acknowledged gaps in information and said they are working to fill them quickly.
Senior officers have formed special teams to speed up the investigation. They assured the public that authorities are treating the case as a priority.
Meanwhile, the incident has caused fear and concern in the area. Residents have demanded swift justice and better security measures.
Police said they will share further updates after receiving forensic and post-mortem reports. Until then, investigators continue to work to uncover the truth behind the suspected triple murder.
