Islamabad: Rana Aftab, the Sunni Ittehad Council’s nominee for Punjab Chief Minister, hinted at an impending political maneuver, suggesting surprises in the completion of several games within the Punjab Assembly during a media interaction in Lahore on Sunday.
Aftab expressed discontent over the delayed allocation of reserved seats for his party, emphasizing that the assembly remains incomplete without their representation. He criticized what he termed dual standards, pointing out the non-summoning of the KP Assembly session as a contradiction.
The announcement follows Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan’s official swearing-in as the new Speaker of the Assembly on Saturday. Khan, representing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), assumed office after winning the election for the Speaker’s position, marking a significant development in Punjab’s political dynamics.
The election of Khan as Speaker underscores the shifting political landscape in the region, setting the stage for potential realignments and negotiations among various political factions.
As Aftab’s remarks hint at potential political maneuvers, the Punjab Assembly braces for further developments that could shape the province’s governance trajectory and political alliances. The unfolding events reflect the intricate dynamics and power struggles within Punjab’s political arena, highlighting the significance of strategic calculations and coalition-building efforts among key stakeholders.
