As the third academic semester in Saudi Arabia draws to a close, students and parents have finally received clarity on the long-anticipated summer vacation schedule for the year 1446.
The Ministry of Education has officially announced that summer holidays will begin immediately after the conclusion of the current semester. The final day of school has been set for Thursday, 1 Dhu al-Hijjah 1446, corresponding to June 27, 2025. Students across the country will then embark on a well-earned break, offering them valuable time to rest, travel, and recharge ahead of the next academic year.
For university students, the timeline is slightly different. Their summer vacation will commence after the conclusion of the second semester, expected to be sometime following mid-Dhu al-Qadah 1446. This window allows for opportunities to engage in summer internships, training programs, or volunteer initiatives, helping students expand their practical skills and experience.
The school summer break is scheduled to last until Sunday, 14 Safar 1447, which falls on August 17, 2025. Spanning approximately 51 days, this year’s vacation is shorter than in previous years due to the ongoing implementation of the three-semester academic structure.
While the overall duration of the summer holiday has been reduced, the three-semester system has provided students with more evenly spaced breaks throughout the academic year. These periodic short vacations aim to reduce academic burnout and ensure a more balanced and sustainable learning experience.
This structured approach is designed to help students stay refreshed and maintain their productivity by offering several shorter breaks instead of one long summer interval.
