Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has been appointed president of Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Sialkot Stallionz. The team also unveiled its official logo during a ceremony held in Lahore.
Alpha Ozy Sports organised the event at a private hotel, where officials formally announced Akram’s appointment. Although he joined the ceremony online, Akram expressed confidence in the franchise’s future and pledged to help build a competitive and successful side in the PSL.
The unveiling of the Sialkot Stallionz logo marked the start of a new chapter for the franchise as it prepares for upcoming league seasons. Team management said the branding reflects the city’s cricketing heritage and ambition to compete at the highest level.
Head coach Tim Paine attended the event alongside co-owners Hamza Majeed and Muhammad Shahid. They promised to introduce modern innovations within the PSL framework and committed to raising professional standards. Additionally, they emphasised their goal of strengthening grassroots development to ensure long-term success.
Alpha Ozy Sports Chairperson Sabiha Sultan also addressed the gathering. She extended her best wishes to the franchise and highlighted plans to promote women’s cricket in Pakistan. According to her, the organisation will take practical steps to expand opportunities for female cricketers and support their professional growth.
Meanwhile, league observers view Akram’s appointment as a strategic move, given his vast international experience and leadership credentials. His involvement is expected to boost the franchise’s profile and attract talent.
With new leadership in place and a fresh identity revealed, Sialkot Stallionz aim to make a strong impact in the upcoming PSL season.
