Suhana Khan
Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter, Suhana Khan, faces legal scrutiny after purchasing agricultural land in Maharashtra’s coastal town of Alibaug.
According to Indian media reports, Suhana acquired land worth ₹12.91 crore in Thal village, Alibaug, from three sisters — Anjali, Rekha, and Priya — who inherited the property from their parents. The land, however, had originally been designated by the government for agricultural use and is reserved for farming.
The registration documents list Suhana Khan as a “farmer,” a designation required under state law for purchasing agricultural property. This has raised questions about the legality of the transaction since rules in Maharashtra prohibit non-farmers from acquiring agricultural land unless specific conditions are met.

Reports further state that Suhana paid a stamp duty of ₹77.46 lakh at the time of registration. The property is registered under Deja Vu Farm Pvt Ltd, a company owned by her grandmother Savita Chhibber (mother of Gauri Khan), and her aunt, Namita Chhibber.
Resident Deputy Collector Sandesh has ordered the Alibaug Tehsildar to conduct an independent inquiry and submit a report. Authorities are investigating whether regulations were bypassed in the sale.
Multiple High-Value Purchases in Alibaug
The scrutiny comes after Suhana Khan expanded her property portfolio in the same region. Within a year of her first Alibaug deal, she bought another beachfront property worth ₹10 crore. Together, her combined land investment in Alibaug is estimated at ₹22 crore between 2023 and 2024.
The case has sparked debate about the growing interest of Bollywood celebrities and high-net-worth individuals in Alibaug, often referred to as the “Hamptons of Mumbai.” It has also put a spotlight on Maharashtra’s strict agricultural land purchase rules, which many claim are frequently circumvented by influential buyers.
Authorities are yet to determine whether any violations occurred and whether the deal could be canceled or subjected to penalties.
