Stranger Things actor Joe Keery has finally shared what it felt like to step onto the set of the hit Netflix series for the last time. Speaking at the show’s London premiere, Keery reflected on the emotional weight of filming the highly anticipated final season, calling the experience “very different” from all previous installments.
An Emotional and Intentional Goodbye
In a conversation with Reuters, Keery admitted that knowing it was the final chapter changed his entire approach.
“Yeah, it did feel different, just knowing going in that it was the last time we were going to do it,” he said.
He explained that this knowledge pushed him to be more present throughout production:
“I tried to be intentional about enjoying every day,” he noted, adding that the scale of the last season is “far larger than any other season” the cast has worked on so far.
The year-long shoot brought new challenges, demanding stamina from the entire team. “It was a challenge, too… it was about a year-long shoot, so, yeah, it’s a pretty lofty goal that we all had,” Keery said.
Praise for the Duffer Brothers
Despite the emotional intensity of wrapping up the show, Keery expressed confidence in how the story concludes.
“I think the brothers really landed the plane,” he said, praising Matt and Ross Duffer, the creators and showrunners of Stranger Things, for guiding the series to a strong finish.
The sci-fi drama, which first premiered in 2016, follows the mysterious disappearance of a young boy in a small town, unraveling a web of secret experiments, supernatural danger, and the arrival of a mysterious girl with extraordinary powers.
As fans gear up for the final season, Keery’s reflections signal both a heartfelt farewell and an exciting, high-stakes conclusion to one of Netflix’s most iconic shows.
