Yuvraj Singh Includes Wasim Akram in His All-Time Playing XI

Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh, renowned for his stellar career in Indian cricket, recently led his team to victory in the World Championship of Legends 2024, triumphing over Pakistan in a thrilling final.

Following the match, Yuvraj shared his all-time playing XI during a media interaction, which included a mix of cricketing legends from various eras.

Yuvraj’s XI features an impressive lineup, beginning with the formidable top-order trio of Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, and current Indian captain Virat Kohli, complemented by the explosive batting prowess of Rohit Sharma.

The middle-order boasts the versatile AB de Villiers, the dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist, and the all-round capabilities of Andrew Flintoff.

Notably, the only Pakistani cricketer to make Yuvraj’s elite squad is the legendary pace bowler Wasim Akram, celebrated worldwide for his mastery of swing bowling.

Akram’s inclusion underscores his enduring impact on the game and his status as one of cricket’s greatest fast bowlers.

The bowling attack in Yuvraj’s XI is led by two of the most successful spinners in cricket history, Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan, known for their craft and ability to turn matches single-handedly.

They are complemented by the metronomic accuracy of Glenn McGrath, whose ability to bowl impeccable line and length made him a nightmare for batsmen worldwide.

In the thrilling final against Pakistan, India successfully chased down a target of 157 runs, with opener Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu providing a blistering start.

Despite losing quick wickets, a crucial partnership between Rayudu and Gurkeerat Singh stabilized the innings. Rayudu’s aggressive 50 off 30 balls, supported by Gurkeerat’s steady 34, laid the foundation for India’s victory push.

Yuvraj Singh, leading from the front, remained unbeaten with a calm 15 off 22 balls, steering India towards the historic win. The finishing touches were provided by Yusuf Pathan’s explosive 30 off just 16 balls, ensuring India crossed the finish line in dramatic fashion.

Pakistan, led by Aamer Yamin’s impressive bowling performance of 2/29, fought hard throughout the match but fell short in the face of India’s determined batting display.

Yuvraj Singh’s choice of his all-time playing XI not only reflects his deep knowledge and appreciation of cricketing talent but also pays homage to the legends who have left an indelible mark on the sport.

His leadership and batting prowess continue to inspire cricket enthusiasts around the world, cementing his legacy as one of India’s cricketing greats.
