Shoaib Malik, the renowned Pakistani all-rounder, announced his resignation from the position of Domestic Cricket Mentor in a heartfelt message posted on social media. Malik revealed that he had submitted his formal resignation to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) two weeks ago, citing the need to move forward and devote attention to his personal and professional commitments.
In his post, Malik expressed that stepping down was a difficult decision, but after careful reflection on his responsibilities, he realized that balancing multiple roles would hinder his ability to fully contribute to both Pakistan cricket and his other ventures. He assured that he would continue to fulfill his contractual obligations, providing the PCB ample time to appoint a successor for the upcoming season.
The former Pakistan cricket captain conveyed his sincere gratitude to PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, the PCB executive team, Wahab Riaz, the director of Champions Events, and the coaching staff at Stallion. He also thanked the players who gave him the opportunity to impart his knowledge. “Collaborating with some of Pakistan’s most talented cricketers has been an incredibly rewarding experience that I will always treasure,” he shared.
Shoaib Malik led Pakistan as captain from 2007 to 2009 and made his ODI debut in 1999 as an off-break bowler. Over his career, he became known as a batting all-rounder, appearing in 287 ODIs, scoring 7,534 runs, and taking 158 wickets. Malik confirmed his retirement from one-day cricket after the 2019 World Cup.
