Cristiano Ronaldo is set to extend his international appearance record after being selected for Portugal’s Euro 2024 squad, a milestone he takes great pride in.
At 39 years old, Ronaldo has already made 206 appearances for Portugal, scoring 128 goals. He was named in head coach Roberto Martinez’s 26-man squad for the tournament in Germany, running from June 14 to July 14.
Ronaldo shared a photo of himself in the new Portugal kit on Instagram, captioning it: “Proud to be back representing Portugal at Euro. Let’s go with it!”
This selection marks Ronaldo’s sixth time being included in Portugal’s roster for the European Championship, further cementing his legacy in the competition, according to Goal.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who currently plays for Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr, holds several records in the European Championship. He has appeared in the most editions of the tournament, played the most matches (25), scored the most goals (14), and will become the oldest player to feature at the Euros.
Portugal will kick off their Euro 2024 campaign against the Czech Republic in their Group F opener on June 18.
