Real Madrid has retained its position as the football club with the highest revenue globally for the 2023/24 season, according to Deloitte’s Football Money League report. The Spanish powerhouse secured €1.045 billion in total revenue, marking a €214.1 million increase from the previous year, and continues to dominate the financial rankings for the second consecutive year.
The club’s revenue boost was largely driven by the completion of renovations to its iconic Bernabéu Stadium, which resulted in a significant increase in matchday revenues. These doubled to €248 million for the 2023/24 season.
Additionally, Real Madrid reported a 20% surge in commercial revenues, rising from €403 million to €482 million. This growth was attributed to higher merchandise sales and new sleeve sponsorship deals that further strengthened the club’s financial standing.
Manchester City followed closely in the rankings, generating €837.8 million, while Paris Saint-Germain rounded out the top three with €805.9 million in revenue.
The complete rankings revealed that other top clubs such as Manchester United (€770.6 million), Bayern Munich (€765.4 million), and Barcelona (€760.3 million) were also among the highest earners. However, Barcelona saw a €63 million drop in matchday revenue due to their temporary relocation to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys while the Camp Nou underwent renovations.
Liverpool (€715 million), Tottenham Hotspur (€615 million), and Chelsea (€546 million) maintained their positions within the top 10, despite experiencing a decline in broadcast income caused by their absence from the Champions League this season.
These findings highlight the continued financial growth of top European football clubs and the significant influence of stadium renovations, commercial ventures, and global partnerships in boosting club revenues.
