Mohammad Hafeez, Pakistan Cricket’s Team Director, announced that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will introduce a new No Objection Certificate (NOC) policy soon, allowing national cricketers to participate in league cricket.
Mohammad Hafeez mentioned during a press conference at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore that players offered central contracts are expected to be available for Pakistan’s future tours in all three formats.
Highlighting the impact of league cricket on players’ fitness, Hafeez noted that injuries and fatigue were observed during the recent Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup.
Looking ahead to the upcoming T20 World Cup, he stated that the NOC policy would align with Pakistan cricket’s needs, aiming to manage players’ workload effectively and provide fit players for national duties.
Hafeez emphasized that players must prioritize their availability for Pakistan, and if opportunities for league cricket arise afterward, they will be considered.
Regarding Haris Rauf, the pace bowler who expressed his desire to play Test cricket, Hafeez mentioned that Rauf met with the chief selector and chose not to participate for personal reasons.
While the central contract is offered to ensure availability in all formats, Hafeez acknowledged that individual decisions, like Rauf’s preference not to play red-ball cricket, are respected.

Responding to a question about Babar Azam’s role after stepping down from the captaincy, Hafeez stated that Azam maintains a strong bond with the new skipper Shan Masood and plays a vital role in formulating strategies for the upcoming Australia tour. Hafeez emphasized the collaborative nature of their relationship and Azam’s willingness to provide feedback.
