The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has recently unveiled the comprehensive breakdown of monthly salaries allocated to players within the national cricket team.
According to recent media disclosures, players categorized under A are slated to receive a handsome monthly salary of Rs4.5 million, while those falling under the B category will enjoy a respectable Rs3 million per month. This recent update in player contracts by the PCB signifies a significant surge in salaries across all tiers.
Notably, category A players witnessed an impressive surge of 202%, while category B players experienced a substantial rise of 144%. Furthermore, players categorized under C and D also benefited from notable increases, with raises of 135% and 127% respectively.
The classification of players into different categories is primarily performance-oriented, with the PCB announcing these updated contracts back in September of the previous year.
Star players such as Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Muhammad Rizwan have been rightfully placed in category A, each receiving a generous monthly salary of Rs 4.5 million. Category B, on the other hand, includes prominent names like Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah, who are entitled to monthly earnings of up to Rs 3 million.
For those players designated under categories C and D, their monthly remuneration ranges from Rs750,000 to Rs1.5 million. Imad Wasim stands out in Category C, while notable figures like Iftikhar Ahmed, Hasan Ali, and Saim Ayub are listed under Category D.
Aside from the monthly salary, players also stand to benefit from fixed match fees and match awards across various formats, further enhancing their overall earnings and serving as incentives for outstanding performances on the cricket field.
